Hello everyone,
Today, I present the proyect of an expansion of a semi-detached single-family home in Cuevas de San Marcos, Málaga.
The house is located in an urban area where single-family homes from the 1970s, attached to roads and party walls, predominate.
This proyect of expansion was designed at RBM Architecture Studio by the architect Raúl Benítez Molina. The project began in 2021 with the goal of expanding the house and improving accessibility.
The construction is situated on a trapezoidal plot of 103.96m², where the geometry of the house aligns with that of the plot. The total constructed area is 128.78m² spread over two floors, meaning 64.37m² per floor.
Subsequently, in response to the promoter's needs, it was expanded by extending one wing. The expansion of the proposal is planned through a foundation slab, supported by load-bearing walls and a semi-viguetas (ribbed concrete beams) floor structure that supports the terrace.
Within this intervention, noteworthy changes include the addition of a bathroom on the ground floor, as there was previously only one on the first floor, which made living in the house less comfortable. Additionally, the kitchen space, which was quite small before, was expanded.
On the first floor, the gained space is used as a terrace, facilitating various daily activities in the house.
This expansion adds 28.26m² of floor space, which improves the quality of life for the occupants of the property.
In conclusion, the design of this expansion aims to enhance the comfort of the interior spaces of the house by creating spacious, functional, and accessible areas.
Best regards.
Raúl Benítez.
